Biostratigraphy
Horizon has a long history in the provision of biostratigraphy services in SE Asia and these services remain a core part of our analytical services portfolio. Performed on samples ranging from field samples to well cores, palynology, nannofossil and foraminiferal analyses are the main techniques used. These can be supplemented with acritach, conodont and radiolarian analyses when required.
Wellsite biostratigraphy, has been a key element of our services and we have worked onsite throughout SE Asia and Australasia.
Our biostratigraphers use the latest stratigraphic zonations and are continually refining these schemes to provide the most up-to-date stratigraphic interpretations.
Geochemistry
Our geochemistry analytical services are applicable to exploration, development and production programmes and include source rock screening, maturation and source rock, oil and gas characterisation, including reservoir geochemistry analyses.
Our geochemists are focused on understanding the problems and devising analytical programme to understand these issues. Specialist laboratories provide the high quality data that we need, while we the skills and experience to carry out data QC and interpretation.
Our extensive digital geochemical database for oils, gases and source rocks from throughout SE Asia, provides a valuable resource to assist this work.
Sedimentology/Petrography
Horizon can provide a full range of sedimentological services including core description, petrographic analysis, XRD and SEM analysis and isotopic analyses to support exploration, appraisal, development and production services. These services rely on local project supervision with analytical and interpretation work carried out by specialist laboratories and experienced sedimentologists and reservoir geologists. The data and interpretation are aimed at providing timely answers to reservoir issues, including reservoir modeling, development planning and production issues.
Other Services
We understand the range and scope of analytical services that may be required for successful exploration and production projects and can provide these through associations with specialist laboratories worldwide.
These techniques include fluid inclusion stratigraphy, strontium isotope stratigraphy and chemostratigraphy. When used in association with biostratratigraphy, geochemistry and sedimentology work programmes these techniques provide information on fluid migration, stratigraphic ages, depositional environments, and sediment correlation and provenance.
